TO STAY OR NOT TO STAY: AN EMPIRICAL MODEL FOR PREDICTING TEACHER PERSISTENCE

Teacher persistence has been a growing issue in recent decades. This raises the problem of sustainability teaching workforce, professionalism working teachers and preserving quality education. In this study we aim to create test an empirical model that makes it possible predict teachers’ plans remain or leave profession. Proceeding from earlier research, focuses on investigating role motivations, job demands, school climate as potential factors teacher retention. A sample 373 responded electronic questionnaire compiled using questions FIT-Choice, Norwegian Self-Efficacy Scale, Delaware School Climate Survey. Structural equation modelling was applied find predicts The findings revealed two main – combination perceived ability intrinsic motivation, security have positive impact continue teaching.
